PALMARES OF THE 104th TASTEVINAGE SESSION – AUTUMN 2019
Scheduled to coincide with the harvest and the arrival of the new vintage, the autumn TASTEVINAGE returned to the Château du Clos de Vougeot on Friday, September 6, 2019. The event brought together 228 tasting judges (wine growers, sommeliers, restaurateurs, wine merchants, buyers, journalists and influencers) who met in the Grande Cave du Château, chaired by Fabrice SOMMIER, CEO of the George Blanc Group and Best Worker of France in 2007. FABRICE SOMMIER : CHAIRMAN OF THIS 104th EDITION
Fabrice Sommier started as a commis sommelier in Tours with Jean Bardet while still studying for additional qualifications at Saint-Cyr-sur Loire. His passion for his chosen profession was sparked off after meeting the master sommelier Michel Desroches. Then came spells with Martin Schreiber in Alsace and Bernard Robin in Bracieux, where he was head-sommelier for three years. His career continued with five years in Paris as a manager for Au petit Riche (that great ambassador for wines from the Loire), followed by a spell with Bernard Loiseau in Saulieu.He arrived in Vonnas (Ain) in August 2000 to take up the post of head-sommelier at the Georges Blanc Parc and Spa, and moved steadily up to be appointed CEO of the group in July 2018. Awarded the titles Meilleur Ouvrier de France (sommelier category) in 2007 and Master of Port in 2010, he also enjoys the distinction of being the only European to have carried off first prize for best cigar and drink pairing two years in succession, in 2013 and 2014.Fabrice Sommier is actively involved in the Gevrey-Chambertin Saint-Vincent Tournante to be held on the 25th and 26th of January 2020.
